Web 2.0 - Kids Love it but... WHY?...
Description: Over the last few years you have been hearing about Web 2.0... you know Wikis, Blogs, Flickr, Podcasts, Wikipedia, Social Networking, Skypecasts... you know COLLABORATION... We have talked about what they are or how to set them up or use them... In this session we will discuss the WHY!
Objectives: Begin a discussion on what students are seeing in the classroom today, and what is happening in the real world, their real world, and the impact technology is is having on their education... On their own, students are embracing and utilizing Web 2.0 technologies. This presentation focuses on why as educators we need to be open to a paradigm shift in their methodologies to begin to make technology integral to their personal learning and lessons for students. These technologies have the possibility to enrich curriculum, build constructivist learning, and enhance student involvement and excitement to learn.
Through the presentation various Web 2.0 technologies will be demonstrated. Together we will work to provide a link to the "WHY!" The real benefit for students.
